Hatschi – pollen season 2024
Later than last year, but much earlier than usual, the pollen season began in the last decade of January with the increased blossoming of hazelnuts and alders, and with it the time of suffering for pollen allergy sufferers in the north. However, the hazel and alder blossom season is now largely over. Instead, the ash and birch pollen season has begun.

March too mild, wet and cloudy so far
So far, March has been too mild, too wet and too cloudy across Switzerland. However, there are major regional differences in the individual parameters. After the record mild February, vegetation development is at a record early stage.

A mixed Holy Week, partly foehn Easter
The weather in Holy Week until Good Friday is very mixed: After a fairly sunny start with a foehn on Tuesday in the northern Alpine valleys, it will be unsettled on Wednesday and Thursday and partly wet, especially on Wednesday. Rain is already falling in the south on Tuesday. On Good Friday, it will remain dry with foehn winds in the north and some sunshine, especially in the east, but it will be cloudy and repeatedly wet in the south. The Easter weekend in the north will be dominated by the foehn wind with friendly weather and very mild to warm air, while in the south it will often be rainy with congestion. On Easter Monday, it is also likely to be wet in the north as the foehn breaks down.

Regionally very different Easter weather
Over Easter, the weather in Switzerland varies greatly from region to region: The friendliest and warmest weather will be from Good Friday to Easter Sunday with partly stormy foehn winds in the Alpine valleys in the east, while the worst and coolest with partly heavy precipitation will be in the south. The west is in between with changeable and occasionally wet weather. Widespread precipitation is to be expected on Easter Monday.

From mild to cool – and back again
When we talk about spring weather, many of us think of sunshine, pleasant temperatures, blossoming flowers and birdsong. In reality, however, spring is often a time of great contrasts – a duel between mild and cool air. Over the next few days, we can experience a prime example of this at first hand.

Full moon with Pattina
Next Monday morning is a full moon, which in itself would not be anything special. In this case, however, the moon is far away and therefore appears a little smaller, and there will also be a partial penumbral eclipse. However, that sounds more spectacular than it is...

Still unsettled spring weather
After today's friendly and at least partly sunny Thursday under the influence of an intermediate high pressure system following the dissipation of fog, clouds will dominate in the north until Monday and the sun will struggle. There will be downpours, especially on Saturday night, and rain in the course of Monday. After that, a ridge of high pressure in the middle of the week will provide stabilization, albeit probably only temporarily.
